Wikki Tourists fans seek coach’s sacking after home draw
Sports
A cross-section of fans of Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Sunday called for the sacking of the club’s Technical Adviser, Kabiru Dogo.
The demand came after the team’s goalless draw with visiting Doma United FC of Gombe in their Match Day 4 fixture in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football
League (NPFL).
The fans expressed their disappointment with the outcome of the match and hurled abusive words at members of the club’s technical crew after the game.
Yakubu Abba, former Organising Secretary of Wikki Tourists FC Supporters Club, blamed the coaching crew and the players for what he described as a “poor result.”
“The club management is not serious, and the Technical Adviser is not creative, placing players wrongly. That is the reason for the poor performance,” he said.
On his part however, Nasiru Kobi, WIkki Tourists FC Media Officer, said it was a “terrible outing” for the home team.
“This is the fourth match of the league, and we have only been able to secure one point after playing two matches at home and two away. That means, out of available 12 points we secured just one point.
“This is a critical position. We remain at the bottom of Group B, which is not encouraging. But all the same, we are going to put in more efforts.
“We call on fans to remain calm and continue to pray for our success. You never can tell what the future holds for Wikki Tourists FC,” he said.
Meanwhile, Saidu Umar, the coach of Doma United, on his part expressed appreciation to God for giving his team the success of not going home with a defeat.
“My boys did their best and they will continue to put in their best even in our next match in Bayelsa,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two teams gave a good account of themselves in both halfs of the match.
There was however more pressure from the home side, even though they failed to convert some good goalscoring chances which came their way.(NAN)
