HOUSE of Representatives member-elect, Pst. Jonathan Ukodhiko has said with the appreciable impact of the 05 Initiative, its Founder, Dame Edith Okowa has built a legacy that would outlive her.
Ukodhiko made the statement on Monday at a Couples’ Forum organized by the 05 Initiative with the theme, “As Christ Loved The Church” held at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba.
According to him, “In line with the biblical injunction, the wife of the Delta State Governor, Dame Edith Okowa leads a life of charity, and she stands out and impacts the lives of Deltans with her 05 Initiative she founded in 2015.
He disclosed, “the 05 Initiative was conceptualised and floated by the Delta First Lady as a way of reaching out to the less privileged in the State, orphans, prison inmates, including those who are medically challenged.
“The yearly Couples’ Forum we are witnessing is one of the spiritual programmes of the 05 Initiative of which I and my wife, Mrs Ivie Ukodhiko, have been active participants.
“This year’s Couples ‘ Forum has further inspired couples to live, walk and work together in absolute mutual fidelity, oneness, understanding, love as Christ loved the Church.
“The Couples‘ Forum since its inception has positively touched the lives of our people, and it has transformed many marriages. And we are confident that it will be sustained.”
Ukodhiko, a former Delta Energy Commissioner said, “For 8years, Dame Okowa has been improving the welfare and wellbeing of the people of the State through various programmes and projects embarked upon by her 05 Initiative.
“She has made a bold statement with the 05 Initiative which has ran skills acquisition schemes, built sickles cell centres, clinics for prison inmates, free medical outreaches, offered humanitarian assistance, food items to orphanage homes and people in the State.
“When last year, flood displaced people in Isoko Federal Constituency, Dame Okowa not only provided relief materials but also, collaborated with the UJA Foundation in giving out food and essential materials to the four IDP camps in Isoko North and Isoko South.
“And we are impressed and proud of the founder of the 05 Initiative and wife of the Delta Governor, Dame Edith Okowa’s selfless service and, we express our profoundest gratitude to her, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, her supportive husband.
“Dame Okowa, is leaving her office better than she met it, and with the appreciable impacts and great achievements of the 05 Initiative, she has built a lasting legacy that will certainly outlive and outgrow her ’.” – Ukodhiko added
