Woman, 40, in court for allegedly stealing handbag

ONE Suliyat Ganiyu, aged 40, was on Friday arraigned in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a handbag.

Ganiyu, whose address was not provided, is charged with theft before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the theft on Feb. 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Itamaya area of Ibadan.

Ibrahim alleged that Ganiyu stole the bag from one Mrs Omolade Adekola, adding that the bag contained automated teller machine cards, keys, N70, 000 and other valuables.

He said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs T. B. Oyekanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 26 for substantive hearing. (NAN).
