Woman arraigned for alleged stealing of N1.18m goods

A 40-year-old female employee, Rejoice Monday on Thursday appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for alleged stealing of goods worth N1.18 million.
Monday is charged before Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni on a count of stealing.
She, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in May 2023 on Saka Adisa Street in Ojo.
He alleged that the defendant stole the sum while working as a sales representative at a shop belonging to one Mr Charles Aneme.
Uche said that the stolen money was realised from sales of goods.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that stealing from one’s employer contravenes Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
It attracts seven years imprisonment.
Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Dec. 20 for mention. (NAN)
