Woman drags husband to court demanding for divorce through redemption

A house wife, Fauziyya Sodangi, on Tuesday prayed a Sharia Court ll sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, to dissolve the union between her and her husband, Garba Dan-Asabe, through redemption (Khul’i).

The complainant, a resident of Tudun Wada area of Kaduna, told the court that she was ready to repay the dowry she received from the defendant.

“I also want the court to grant me custody of my three children and compel their father to pay N10, 000 feeding allowance for each child, “she said.

The defendant was not in court, but was represented by one Yakubu Ibrahim who presented a divorce document to the court which was written by the defendant.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the divorce document stated that the defendant had made one pronouncement of divorce, saying he does not need the complainant to return any dowry.

The Judge, after listening to both parties, adjourned until Sept. 16 for further hearing.
