THE Police in Lagos on Friday arraigned a 32- year-old woman, Christiana Amanyari, in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N8, 380, 000 from a woman.

The defendant, a stylist, who resides at 1, Abusatu Street, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on April 3, at Ikeja.

The prosecutor said that the complainant, Mrs Faith Izuaige, boarded a bus from Oshodi to Ikeja and on their way, the supposed passengers showed her some dollars inside a bag in the bus.

The prosecutor said that when the complainant came back to her senses, she discovered the sum of N8, 380, 000 had been withdrawn from her account by those passengers.

The prosecutor said that the transfer was traced to the defendant’s account and with the help of the bank, her address was located and she was arrested.

Raji said that those other passengers were still at large.

The offences according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi granted the defendant bail of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Aug. 5, for mention. (NAN)
