THE inaugural Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, AWIEF, 2015 will hold at the Calabar International Convention Centre, ICC, from August 13 to 14.  The event is organised by the ICO Conferences and Events Limited, Nigeria, in partnership with Impact Africa Limited, Kenya. More than 500 female delegates from Africa countries are expected to participate in the event.

The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum, AWIEF, is a premier, pan-African conference and exhibition event intended to bring together female entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations, NGOs, civil society organisations, CSOs, top governments officials and the private sector.

The major aim of the meeting is to steer discussions around the role of African women in shaping the continent’s economic future, the challenges faced by women and possible solutions that can be offered. AWIEF 2015 targets the broadest spectrum of participants from across Africa and will create networking opportunities which could facilitate business partnerships, knowledge sharing and peer learning.

Irene Ochem, managing director, AWIEF 2015, said “The choice of Cross River State as destination for the inauguration of AWIEF is symbolic because Margaret Ekpo and Mary Slessor, great women who made historical positive impacts in the lives of women, both lived in the State”. She also explained that the pan-African event would be held in Calabar partly because Calabar ICC offers an ultra-modern conference facility of world-class and international standard, the first of its kind in the region.

Linda De Gouveia, sales manager, Calabar ICC, commenting on the announcement of AWIEF 2015 said, “We are very pleased to be dealing with an international professional conference organiser for this event and we anticipate a highly successful AWIEF 2015. As a centre we promise to offer the highest level of professional and quality service standards to the organisers and delegates alike.”
