Women to women: Support your husbands to meet family needs

A cross section of women in Abuja have urged their fellow women to help their husbands in meeting the daily needs of their households in the face of economic challenges.

The women told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that it would be unfair to leave all the household financial responsibilities for the man.

According to him, days are gone when one single individual could be regarded as the family breadwinner.

They said could only contribute to picking family bills by engaging in an endeavour that would enhance their income.

“All women’s hands must be on deck, including that of women in meeting family needs’’, said to assist in provision in the homes“, Mrs Rose Samuel

She advised women to learn vocational skills if they could not get jobs in government establishments or private sector.

She said women could also engage in small scale farming to as means of generating income and contributing to the financial needs of their families.

Another respondent, Mrs Chika Monday said leaving every family needs for men could aggravate their health conditions such as those suffering from high blood pressure.

“This is not the era when a woman should be happy answering a house wife. Even if it is groundnut or fruits, you can sell to earn some money to support your husband’’, she said.

According to Mrs Blessing Simeon sharing the bills is one of the ways of showing love to her husband, adding that she takes care of food stuff while her husband is responsible for their children’s education.

“Any woman who does not support her husband may loses him and the best way to keep your husband these days is to learn some skills to support him financially“,  Simeon said. (NAN)
