THE Victims Support Fund (VSF) says it has empowered no fewer than 5,000 women between 2016 and 2018, with skills and start-up capital in Adamawa.

The Executive Director, VSF, Prof. Sunday Ochoche, in a document made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), noted that VSF was designed to provide support to victims of insurgency.

He said that supporting the women victims who have locally inclined skills could be translated to income generation, thereby restoring their livelihoods.

According to him, the categories of women targeted by the project are widows as well as heads of households.

He added that 2,000 women victims of insurgency in four local government areas in Adamawa were economically empowered with skills, to enhance their living.

The executive director listed the local government areas and the number of women that benefited to include: Michika 500, Maiha 500, Mubi South 500 and Mubi North 500.

“In 2017; 1,000 women victims of insurgency in Adamawa, 500 from Gombi and 500 from Hong Local Government Areas respectively were also economically empowered with skills and start-up capital.

“In 2018, 2000 women within Madagali Local Government Area benefited from the project.’’

Similarly, Ochoche said that VSF reconstructed 21 facilities such as boreholes, local government secretariats, primary and secondary schools, health facilities and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in Adamawa. (NAN)
