WomenLift Health Global Conference set to mark milestone in advancing gender equality — Director
Health
THE 2024 WomenLift Health Global (WLGH) Conference is set to mark significant milestone in
advancing women’s leadership in global health and promoting gender equality.
Ms Lizz Ntonjira, the Communications and Engagement Director of the organisation, made this known in an interview with
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Dar es Salaam, where it is holding the conference.
NAN reports that WomenLift Health is a new initiative designed to empower accomplished women leaders to advance and
contribute to health development,
Based in Stanford University, California, WomenLift Health is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, supports and empowers mid-career women leaders to attain leadership positions, as well as support women to influence the environments in which they live and work.
Ntonjira, therefore, said that the annual conference is an opportunity for women and men across sectors, disciplines and countries to share experiences, ideas and data about inclusive leadership, especially women’s leadership in health.
She reiterated the initiative’s dedication to expand the influence of women in catalyzing systemic change for better health outcomes.
She listed events preceding the main conference to include a visit to the Comprehensive Community-Based Rehabilitation Tanzania (CCBRT), locally registered NGO providing specialised healthcare services in Dar es Salaam and Moshi.
The director said “CCBRT caters to the community and the most vulnerable by offering accessible specialised services and development programmes.”
With approximately 1000 women leaders and allies in attendance, the April 6 to April 8 conference aims to push conversations and partnerships with health institutions, taking steps to prioritise gender equality.(NAN)
