Women’s Small Business Month: Woman owned oil & gas company is making strides
Women
THIS month as we celebrate Women’s Small Business Month, there’s a lot to be said about women-owned businesses and their lasting impact on the economy.
According to workplace diversity research, “3.6 percent of individuals leading America’s Fortune 500 companies are women.” A study by McKinsey and Co, shows gender equity is crucial for organizations and businesses to perform at the highest levels, “companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams were 21% more likely to outperform on profitability.”
Diversity in leadership can benefit any company or industry, especially in traditionally male-dominated industries like the oil and gas services industry.
A great example of this impact comes from GROEBNER, a manufacturer’s representative and distribution company serving the natural gas industry, that’s just been certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise, WBE, by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, WBENC, the nation’s largest third-party certifier of business owned and operated by women.
Carissa Skorczewski is the first woman and third generation of her family to successfully run and modernize her family’s 46-year-old company in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
