Wrestling Federation mourns the passing of Amos Ojo, commiserates with the deceased's family

THE Nigeria Wrestling Federation received with shock the sad news of the passing of its wrestling hero, Amos Adekunle Ojo, who died on Monday 17th February 2025.

Late Amos Adekunle Ojo was a member of the Nigerian wrestling team for over a decade, where he became multiple Commonwealth games gold medalist, multiple African games gold medalist among others in the 48kg.

He also made two time appearances at the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 Olympics

In a condolence message, the NWF President honourable Daniel Igali, expressed the Federation’s sympathy to the Amos Adekunle Ojo family, the Ogun State Government and everyone connected to him, particularly the wrestling family in Ogun State, urging them to be strong in their grief due to the sad occurrence.

The statement said, “We at the Wrestling Federation sincerely extend our heart-felt condolences to the Amos Adekunle Ojo’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Sports family in Ogun State during this moment of grief.”

“He was a reverend figure whose unique character and achievements contributed to the growth of the sport we see today. People like him gave their all to wrestling in Nigeria when everything was dark.”

“We pray that the good Lord strengthens his family, and everyone connected to him to bear this irreplaceable loss”
