Exhibit commitment to national ideals - Obiano urges corps members

Governor Willie Obiano has urged batch B stream 2 NYSC Corps members to exhibit loyalty, discipline and commitment toward National ideals.

The governor said this at the swearing in ceremony of 2018 batch B, stream 2, Corps members at the temporary orientation camp, Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area.

Declaring open the orientation course, the governor enjoined them to take advantage of job creation programmes in the course content to alleviate poverty and unemployment.

“The era of white collar jobs are fast giving way to an age of entrepreneurship.

“The success of every service year depends on the foundation laid during orientation camping,” he said.

The governor was represented by at the event by Solo Chukwulobelu, secretary to state government, who reassured that government’s commitment toward providing enabling environment for youths to maximize their potential.

Earlier, Kehinde Aremu, the state NYSC Coordinator, said the orientation course was packed with activities that include seminars, skills acquisition and social life.

He applauded Obiano for donating office complex to the state NYSC.

Aremu said 2007 Corps members comprised 1,261 deployed to Anambra and 746 deployed to Enugu were merged for the orientation course.

Ahmed Ikaka, the coordinator for Enugu State, while addressing those deployed to Enugu said the merger was because of the increase in the number, pleading with them to feel at home.

He noted that Enugu and Anambra states have similar cultural background.

The event also featured oath taking by the members as well as inspection of quarter guards, thug of war and taekwondo competition.
