ADETOKUNBO Shonibare, the President, Useful Youth Vision Concept, (UYVC), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) says it will engage women and youths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on skill acquisition projects.

Shonibare, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday, said the programme would commence before end of this month.

She said that the training would include how to use local fabrics to produce bags, hats and shoes, and how to also engage them in catering services.

UYVC will be training women and youths in various skills and this will come up before the end of February.

“The empowerment will be in various hands/skill acquisition programmes that will help them become self-reliant while waiting for admission to tertiary institutions, or job opportunities.

“We are training them on how they can use local fabric to produce bags and shoes and we are also going to train them on how to make hats and also bake among others,” she said.

She advised the youths to work with both their brains and hands to succeed.

“I want to urge the youths to identify their passion, study hard and ensure they attend vigorously to whatever comes their way,” she said.

She said that the rate of crime in the country was on the increase, hence the need to engage the youths on skill acquisition.  (NAN)
