YOUTH and students leaders in Rivers State have rated Magnus Ngei Abe, the senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, high in the area of award of scholarship to students and empowerment of youths.

The youth and student leaders, under the aegis of the Network of Youth and Student Leaders of Rivers State, also rated Abe high in the area of educational grants, robust bursary scheme and unmitigated access to Rivers youths.

The group, in a communiqué issued at the end of a one-day dialogue and reception in honour of the senator, described him as a leader with unparalleled leadership qualities.

The communiqué, which was signed by Kadilo Kabari, Inye Jack and Patrick Ogbuehi, read in part, “After an exhaustive brainstorming session of young intellectuals, under the aegis of Network of Youth and Student leaders of Rivers State (NYSL), where critical issues bordering on the development of youths and students were reviewed and x-rayed, the following positions were reached:

“That of all the active principal political characters in Rivers State, Distinguished Senator Magnus Abe stands head and shoulder above all, with a rich and unrivalled profile in the award of scholarship, educational grants, youths empowerment, robust bursary scheme and unmitigated access to Rivers Youths.

“That in recognition of the above, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe is hereby conferred by the Network of Youths and Students Leadership in Rivers State as the ‘Hope of Rivers Youth’. This is due to the unparalleled leadership qualities the Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe is known for.

“That the Network of Students and Youths Leaders of Rivers State shall continually give support to Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe in his deliberate efforts in offering selfless services to humanity in general and youths in particular.

“That Senator Magnus Ngei Abe understands that young people do not only play critical role in building and sustaining peace, but are also agents of change and key actors in the prevention of conflict in Nigeria and Rivers State in particular and that their involvement in making critical decisions in Rivers State and Nigeria is very important and recommendable.

“That the network is bringing to perspective the need for young people to be successful and involved in major decision making process in Rivers State, which informs our unmistakably positive stance on the ‘NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN, NOT TOO YOUNG TO RULE’ agitations across the country.

“That Senator Magnus Ngei Abe understands the plights of young people in this era of unemployment, lack or job security and decent pay and unpalatable living standards, poor education, insecurity lack of access to resources and information, poor health care and basic services, and life uncertainties.

“And that the Senator should continuously support the young people to have the opportunity of tapping into their potentials and reaching their goals in life.

“That as young people of this State, we urge Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the ‘Hope of Students and Youths’, to urgently bring to the Red Chambers (The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria) a bill that will address the issues of widening income gap and manipulation of our resources between the bourgeoisie and the youths.

“The network hereby calls on other elected Representatives at all levels of all government and appointed government officials to emulate Distinguished Senator Magnus Ngei Abe in his kind gesture to humanity.

“Finally, we thank the Almighty God for restoring the health of our President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR, as he repositions Nigeria for the better.

“We reassure the President of our support and declare the Network’s willingness and preparedness to offer its self for whatever complimentary roles or services as may be required to better our dear country, Nigeria. We therefore pledge our unalloyed loyalty and support to the Federal Government of Nigeria under your leadership as you continue in the drive for a united and prosperous Nigeria.”
