Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has called on green partners to begin the decoration of adopted parks across the state.

The General Manager of LASPARK, Mrs Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola said in a statement on Tuesday that partners should decorate the parks with colourful lighting and adornment in preparation for the Yuletide festivities.

Adebiyi-Abiola urged all the green partners to utilise the opportunities provided by the yuletide season to support government’s efforts at making the season more glamorous through decorating and lighting of the sites adopted by their organisations.

”The exercise is a unique opportunity for the agency and its partners to intensify and advance the ideals of greening across the state.

”It is a unique opportunity to create a comfortable atmosphere for citizens, as they look forward to connecting with nature during the season,” she said.

Outlining the necessity for the project at this festive season, the LASPARK boss said that edifying the various parks with eye-catching decorations would stimulate public interest, thereby improving patronage.

She acknowledged the contributions of some of its partners who had constantly been identified with the Christmas lighting and decoration project of the state government.

Adebiyi-Abiola however implored other partners to key into the special project as part of their corporate social responsibility.

”Government takes cognisance and appreciates the contributions of all partners and relevant stakeholders towards keeping the state’s adopted sites green and clean.

”I enjoin you to be steadfast in bequeathing an enviable environment to the generation yet unborn,” she said.

Adebiyi-Abiola said that the project would further reposition their brands and portray their organisations as admirers of a distinct and healthy society, thus creating a beneficial and desirous response among the citizens.

According to her, to further entrench the model of greening, the agency has developed a system that is making private and non-governmental organisations show interest in adopting parks in the state.

The general manager said that mitigating the adverse effects of climate change and global warming required an intensive increment in the green cover.

She said that this could only be achieved through conscious, intensive and aggressive landscaping, beautification and tree planting activities, which the agency’s partners had keyed into.

Adebiyi-Abiola said that the agency would not relent in providing strategic support as it continued to improve the living environment and wellbeing of Lagosian through landscaping, beautification and tree planting. (NAN)
