ZA’AR Youth Development Association (ZAYODA), a socio-cultural group in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has urged the youths to embrace dialogue to promote peaceful coexistence in the country.

It also urged the youths to pursue education and embrace agriculture to fight poverty and enhance wealth creation in the society.

This is contained in a five-point communique signed by its Chairman, Mr Yawa Ndit, at the end of the 2024 first quarter meeting on Monday in Bauchi.

The association noted with concern activities of some of its members in perpetrating violence as a means of achieving their selfish interest or the interest of some individuals.

“The meeting also urged its members to embrace peace, amicable resolution of disputes through established institutions and authorities other than taking laws into their hands”.

The association said the call underscored the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills for sustainable empowerment to reduce idleness, poverty and hunger.

It said that the association welcomed youth development initiatives, and urged governments and development organisations to engage its leadership to facilitate successful implementation of the programmes.

ZAYODA also commended the state government over the execution of road infrastructure and other viable projects designed to open up the area for sustainable social and economic development.

It further enjoined the youths to support and cooperate with the state government to fast track implementation of its people oriented projects.

“The ZAYODA members commended the government’s steps and efforts aimed at the actualisation of the long awaited Zaar Chiefdom, especially the engagement with all sides in Zaar land with a view to actualise the Chiefdom.

“We urged the Zaar youths, citizens and its neighbours to support the government in this direction for the development of the area,” it said. (NAN)
