ZAMFARA Government says it will soon begin construction of a multi-billion naira School of Nursing and Midwifery in Zurmi, the headquarters of Zurmi Local Government.

The Special Adviser to the state governor on Higher Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Gurbin-bore, disclosed this at a news conference on Wednesday in Gusau.

Gurbin-bore said that this followed approval given by Gov. Bello Matawalle on Sept. 1, 2020.

“The governor has directed my department to immediately begin all the necessary arrangements for the smooth take-off of the project, which aims at boosting the state’s healthcare sector.

“At the moment, we are in consultation with all that matter to this effect including drafting of the bill for the establishment of the law setting up the institution. This will be the eighth state-owned tertiary institution,” he added.

According to the special adviser, both the temporary and permanent sites of the institution have been identified.

He said that immediately the law to establish the school is passed, academic and administrative activities will start.

He assured that when completed, the school would be of world-class standard conducting all relevant nursing and midwifery courses. (NAN)
