AS political gladiators prepare to make it to the stage of contest in the 2023 general elections, a group under the aegis of Nzuko Umunna, a global Igbo Think Tank is also preparing to unveil a stirring national conversation with the aim of persuading Nigerians to buy the south-east presidency agenda which it called “the fairest national consensus.” This was made known in a press statement signed by Collins Steve Ugwu, for Greater Nigerian Conference, GNC, Media & Publicity.

In the statement, Ugwu said that the conference would underscore the need for progressive good governance, equity in diversity and fairness by inclusion, in the conscience of national politics.

According to him, the conference is “geared to gather Nigerians of all persuasions and substance, the elders, opinion molders, politicians, entrepreneurs, the youths, from the north and south, west and east, to a rational dialogue on the moral force of South East’s quest for Nigerian president from their zone.”

In the same vein, Senator Chris Anyanwu, the President of Nzuko Umunna, noted that the GNC Organizing Committee championed by Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, former governor of Enugu State as the chairman and Senator Victor Umeh, as the deputy chairman will “drive home the obligation the country in urgent search for real nationhood owe to her greatness, that true healing is achieved, when sores of history are treated intentionally, than ignored conveniently.”

The conference is also looking at asking Nigerians to give the South-East region the opportunity to make history for one Nigeria.

Ngozi Odumuko, the executive secretary of Nzuko Umunna, also stated that there is no better time than now to cast the net of presidential recruitment to the Southeast, given the inspiring stature of men with proven capacity, competence, fitness and knowledge, eager for fair consideration to serve the country in the capacity of the President just as other regions have faithfully done unhindered.

Regarded as Greater Nigerian Conference, GNC, with the theme “Together We Can” the meeting is billed to hold in Abuja come April 25, 2022 and it will witness all Presidential aspirants from Southeast, Governors from Southeast and Southern Nigeria.

Others include special delegation from Ohaneze Ndigbo, South West Afenifere leaders, Middle Belt Forum, Arewa Consultative Forum, Pan Niger Delta Forum amongst others.
