FEW days to the 2023 general elections, the Accord family in Oyo South Senatorial District, has received defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibarapa area of Oyo State.

Mr Kolapo Kola-Daisi, the Accord Senatorial Candidate in the district, received the defectors during an event held at the Eruwa town hall.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defectors, under the aegis of Success Group, were led by Mr Omileke Olugbemiga and Hon. Ademola Adeyemi.

NAN reports that the defectors were received by Kola-Daisi alongside the party chairman in lbarapa East, Alhaji Ajiboye Akinsanya, and party chieftain, Hon. Bimbo Adepoju.

Kola-Daisi assured that the defectors would be treated as core members of the Accord family.

“I thank and congratulate you all for making the right decision. You have done well by aligning with us and with the people.

“If you look at the quality of our candidates and our plans, Accord is the only party that is truly ready to serve the people rightfully, it is not far-fetched that the people have accepted us so well.

“Be rest assured that you are now part of the family, the leading party across the whole Oyo South and Oyo State in general. I am confident that we will succeed together,” he said.

Olugbemi said that the people-oriented plans of Accord party is a huge motivating factor for their defection, adding it clearly solidified their chances of winning at the incoming polls.

“We have seen the light. Anyone who doubts the convincing manner with which the people have accepted Accord in this local government and across Oyo South is lying to him or herself.

“The message is clear, the platform is unstained, the candidates are very popular, and the people are widely convinced. Who wouldn’t want to join such a team? he asked.

Adeyemi said that their decision to defect was informed by the fact that Accord is the only credible alternative embraced by the people, especially considering the hardship they’ve endured from other parties till date.

“There’s no need to beat about the bush, the people are not stupid. We are not stupid. It is clear to everyone that Accord is the only credible alternative that the people have accepted and will vote for.

“As a group, we want to be in the fold of winners, hence, our move today. We decided to pitch our tent here with you because this is where the people are headed, no doubt,” he said.

Among those present at the event were the Woman Leader in the party, Mrs. Mabel Williams, and the candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Hon. Wahab Oladejo. (NAN)
