Adamawa State to resuscitate Technical, Vocational training centres

ARRANGEMENTS have been concluded to resuscitate the abandoned Technical and Vocational Technical Training Centres across Adamawa, says the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.

The governor gave the assurance during the flag-off of training of 500 youth on small entrepreneurship, held on Monday in Yola.

According to Fintiri, the revival of the training centres was aimed at training youth in skills required by manufacturers and industries within and outside the state.

He said that in line with the youth empowerment programme of his administration, the government had earmarked 100 hectares of land in each local government area, to be allocated to youth to display their potentials and talents in various fields of development.

According to him, the government is currently creating the enabling environment through youth capacity training, to discourage violent activities.

Earlier in her remarks, Mrs Aishatu Bello, the head of  Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation  Agency in the state, said that the beneficiaries of the programme, about  2,000,  were divided into four phases, due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the youth would receive training on Barbing, Fish farming, Poultry, Food  Processing and Preservation.

Other entrepreneur skills included Make-up, Photography, Soap making, Solar Installation, Website design, among others ( NAN)
