PASTOR Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has said that he is still not certain if there will be general elections in Nigeria next year.

Speaking during the April thanksgiving service at the Redemption Camp on Sunday in Ogun state, Adeboye stated that he was reacting to several articles insinuating that the church had given instructions to the members of the church on who to vote for.

“Before we go to the topic of today, I want to clear one important point. I understand that some people have been writing all manners of articles on instructions to all members of the redeemed Christian Church of God.

“Listen to me and listen attentively, if you want to quote me, quote me correctly, do you want to know the truth, and nothing but the truth?,’’ he asked.

“As of now, as I am standing before you, I still don’t know whether or not there will be an election next year.

“I don’t know yet, remember to put the word yet.

He explained that he does not know yet if the elections will hold because God hasn’t talked to him about it at all.

“The last time we had an election, he told me about it in June, this is April, so it’s not late.

Adeboye also spoke about the level of insecurity in the land, and the economic situation, “We are moving steadily to bankruptcy, a whole nation,” he said.

He said that he was more concerned about happenings in Nigeria now than what is going to happen a year from now.

Adeboye said that the citizens should be blamed for the situation in Nigeria.

“What were you doing when they were voting?,” he asked.

“They were voting, you sat down at home, you didn’t register, all kinds of people came around and voted a government for you.

“They choose for you because you refused to do anything, and then you begin to complain.

“You must register, you must vote, you must sit down there after you have voted to make sure that they count the votes, and you take note of who they say won, it doesn’t matter to me who.

“You must make sure that there is no more rigging in Nigeria.

“I don’t care which is your party, I don’t care who you vote for, do you duty, that’s all I am asking you to do, and you must do it,” he said.

He also said that he would not tell members who or what party to vote for because all the political parties in Nigeria are represented in the church, adding that voting for anyone will be unjust to the rest of his children, and “I am the father of all, and I like it that way,” he said.

“Those of you who are my members can bear me out that I have never told you who to vote for.

“I have never said this is the party you should belong to. I have never said it, I will never say it, and you know why, because in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, every party is heavily represented, everyone. APC, PDP, APGA, Labour Party, and some party you don’t even know their name.

“All I am saying, and I am saying it loud and clear, I am a Nigerian, everyone of you, you are all Nigerians.

“You are Nigerians before you became Christians, because nobody was born a Christian. You are a true Christian after you give your life to Jesus Christ.

“Before you became a Christian, you are a Nigerian; you have a duty to your country, to register, to vote, to make sure that your vote will count.

“You have a duty to belong to any party of your choice at the very grassroots.

“You can’t sit down, fold your hands, refuse to vote, and then begin to complain about the government.

“let me make it absolutely clear, and please, I want you to listen with anointed ear, and anointed heart, Pastor Adeboye is not, and will never be a politician.

“I have never been, I will never be, that is not my calling,” he added.

He said that he was called to be a pastor, “That is what God called me to be, that is why you don’t see me carrying a big title. He said to me clearly, you are to be a pastor.

“My assignment is to pray for you, pray for nations, including Nigeria. It has nothing to do with partisan politics, don’t distract my attention,” he said.

He asked the church to pray for all the states and ask god to expose those stealing Nigeria’s oil and expose the thieves.
