SUPER Eagles’ coach, Salisu Yusuf, may have been boxed into a tight corner as he has been caught on camera taking cash from men posing as football agents. This is the latest exposure made by controversial Ghanaian undercover reporter, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The footage of the incident which reportedly took place in September 2017 in Ghana was released and broadcast by BBC Africa Eye.
Salisu was filmed taken some cash from undercover investigators who claimed to be football agents to two Nigerian footballers that they wanted the coach to invite for the then upcoming Africa Nations Championships that took place last January on Morocco.
The agents were believed to have offered Salisu $1,000 even though the coach told BBC that it was $750 and defended it as being within the limit of gift FIFA ethics allowed.
According to BBC, Salisu eventually invited the two players the agents had proposed but there was no indication that the money offered influenced the invitation and that there was any further money offered.
It was not also clear whether Salisu was tricked into the episode. But BBC admitted that he was an upright and one of the most respected coaches in Nigeria who is to lead the national team to the Olympics in 2020.
