Anambra inaugurates 2024 budget committee

THE government of Anambra State has inaugurated the 2024 Budget Committee members.

During the inauguration ceremony at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Conference hall, the Commissioner, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake said that the essence of forming the Committee is to inform the people where and how their money would be utilized in the delivery of the dividends of democracy in the coming year.

She said that the 2024 budget will shift from Analog to Automated Budgeting and Warranting system.

“In order to translate into the new system of automated budgeting and warranting, the state government has earlier trained some selected civil servants across MDA’s on the User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

“This is specifically on Budgeting, Reports and User Admin that will assist them to key in seamlessly into the new system of automated budgeting and warranting.’’

She emphasized that the major work of the Budget Committee is to collate the charters of demand of the various Ministries and ensure that they reflect the actual and priority needs of the people.

She added that the aim of the 2024 budget would be to consolidate and deepen the achievements made in the 2023 budget by the State Government.

The commissioner noted that the 2024 budget, being automated and digital in nature would be the first of its kind, which actually is a major improvement of the Soludo’s Administration.

The Executive Director, Social and Integral Development, an arm of the Civil Society Organisation (CSO), Mrs. Ugochi Ehiahurike, implored and advised Community Leaders to always present their charters of demand in line with priority development areas of the government.
