Bala Takaya, politician, administrator and university lecturer, 66, November 5. Born in Mabuguva, Mubi, Adamawa State, he was educated at School of Basic Studies; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; London School of Economic and Political Science, 1977-1978. Takaya was appointed lecturer, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1976-1983; special adviser/secretary to the old Gongola State Government, 1979-1981; senior lecturer, University of Jos, 1983-1987; member, Political Bureau, 1987; director, Centre for Development Studies, University of Jos, 1987 and governorship candidate of All Peoples Party, APP, later All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, in Adamawa State in 1999. In 2003, he decamped to Alliance for Democracy, AD.
