Jimoh Ibrahim, lawyer and businessman, 47, February 24. He was born in Igbotako, Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State. He studied law at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State; Nigerian Law School, Lagos, and Harvad Business School, United States of America. Ibrahim is the managing director of Global Fleet Group of Companies and publisher, National Mirror newspapers, Newswatch magazine and Newswatch dailies.
Udoma Udo Udoma, lawyer, and politician, 60, February 26. Born in Aba, Abia State, he was educated at King’s College, Lagos, 1966-1972; Oxford University, England, 1973-1977; Nigerian Law School, 1977-1978. He became a lecturer in law, University of Lagos, 1978-1980; senior partner, Udo Udoma and Bello Osagie Law Firm in Lagos. Udoma was appointed special adviser to the minister of petroleum resources, 1993-1994 and director, Nigerian Economic Summit Group, NESG, in February 2010, was chairman of the governing board of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC. He was elected a senator representing Akwa Ibom South senatorial zone at the National Assembly, 1999-2007.
Abdul Abubakar, former managing director of Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, 60, February 28. Born in Ankpa, Kogi State, he was educated at the Kwara College of Technology, Ilorin, 1974-1977; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and Victoria University, Manchester, UK, 1989. Abubakar was appointed commissioner for agriculture and natural resources, Benue State, 1983; lecturer/head of department of English, College of Education, Ankpa, Kogi State; chief of administration, NRC, 1988-1989; assistant director, administration, NRC; divisional manager, north-eastern division; railway divisional manager/chief executive for northern division, 1991-1992; director of administration, 1992-1995; director of administration and finance, 1995-1999 and chairman, Nigeria Railway Pension Trust Fund, 1997.
Dan Obaegbu Iheagwara, engineer and managing director, Gold Engineering Company Limited, 50, February 26. Born in Ogbe Ahiara, Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State, he was educated at Federal Polytechnic, Idah, 1984-19985; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, 1985-1990; Centre for Management Development, 1998-1999 and Lagos Business School, 1999-2000. He was production manager, Ben Plastics, 1992; project manager, Capital Preservatives Limited, 1992-1993; assistant head of department, HFP Engineering Limited, 1993-1995; head, Optimum Metals, 1995-1997 and assistant general manager, Optistal Limited, 1998-2000. Iheagwara is managing director, Yorkshire Food Limited; member, Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, and member, Nigerian Institute of Management.
Dipo Kolawale, university teacher and administrator, 64, February 26. He studied at the University of Manitoba, Canada, 1976-1978 and University of Ibadan. He became a lecturer at The Polytechnic Ibadan, 1978-1983; sole administrator, Ifedore local government area, Ondo State, 1992-1993; executive chairman, Ondo State Tourism Board, 1993; chairman, editorial board, Owena Press newspapers and special assistant to Tunde Adeniran, former minister of education, 1999-2001.
