David Oyedepo, pastor and author, 60, September 27. Born in Osogbo, Osun State, but a native of Omu Aran, Kwara State; he was educated at Kwara State Polytechnic and Honolulu University, Hawaii, United States. He is the founding bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners Chapel, and the presiding bishop of the Faith Tabernacle, Ota, Ogun State. He is the chancellor of the Covenant University, Ota, and Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State.

Sunny Okongwu, economist, 80, September 23. Born in Enugu, he was educated at St. Michael’s School, Aba, 1941-1946; Government College, Umuahia, 1947-1951; Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, 1951; Boston University, Massachusetts, United States, 1965. He worked as a broadcaster with the defunct Nigeria Broadcasting Service and later joined the Daily Times as a sub-editor and features editor, West African Pilot. He also served as public relations officer of Mobil Oil Nigeria Limited. He was a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, 1970-1972. He was chief planning officer of the defunct East Central State and minister of national planning, 1985-1986, and later minister of finance, 1986-1990

Felix Chukwu, company executive, and community leader, 52, September 27. A native of Amuzi, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Chukwu was educated at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, 1981-1986; Lagos Business School, 2008. He was sales manager, Rapido Ventures Limited, 1992-1993 and managing director, McQuintus Limited. He holds the traditional title of Nwanne Di Namba of Lorji community, Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State.

THE funeral rites for the late Dimgba Igwe, vice-chairman of The Sun Publishing Limited, who died on September 6, has been announced.  According to Hanson Igwe, elder brother of the deceased, service of songs will take place at the Evangel Pentecostal Church, 3–9, Chidi Okafor Street, off Canal Avenue, Okota, Lagos, on October 4. Interment holds at his hometown, Okafia Igbere Primary School, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, on October 11.  Igwe, a seasoned journalist and fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, was knocked down by a hit-and-run vehicle on September 6, while jogging in the neighbourhood of his Okota, Lagos, resident. He is survived by Obioma, his wife, and four children.
