Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, 68, November 25. He studied at the Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, Kaduna State. He worked with the department of Customs and Excise from where he retired as deputy director of Customs in 1989 and went into politics in 1990. He holds the chieftaincy title of Turaki Adamawa. Atiku is a presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2015 general elections.
Jerry Gana, professor of geography and former minister of Information and National Orientation, 68, November 30. Born in Busu, Niger State, he was educated at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He was chairman, Mass Mobilisation for Social and Economic Recovery, MAMSER; minister of Information in the administration of the late General Sani Abacha and in the first four years of the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Jetson Chibuisi Nwankwo, managing director, Nigerian Railway Corporation, 59, November 27. Born in Isiegbu Ozuitem in Bende Local Government area of Abia State, he was educated at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Nwankwo had served as a railway district manager, Ibadan, 1996; railway district manager, Bauchi, 1997; railway district manager, Enugu, 1998 and director of operations, Lagos, in 2002. He was a former chairman of the Nigerian Railway Institute and member, Union of African railways committee on railway restructuring and privatisation.
Ogbonnaya Onu, chemical engineer, politician and former governor of Abia State, 63, December 1. Born in Uburu Ebonyi State, he studied at the University and the University of Clifornia, Berkley, United States. He is a pioneer member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Otega Emerhor, former chairman, the defunct First Atlantic Bank PLC, 57, November 25. Born in Evwreni, Ughelli, Delta State, he studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a first class honours in accounting. Emerhor was managing director, Standard Trust Bank. He is the chairman, Heroes Group of Companies and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN.
Gbenga Olagunju, civil servant, chartered marketer and businessman, 57, November 29. Born in Okemesi, Ekiti State, he was educated at the Federal Polytechnic, Ibadan and Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and Lagos State University, LASU. He was sales/marketing manager, Feminar Farm Projects Limited, Lagos between 1988 and 1992, senior marketing manager, Tell Communications Limited between 1993 and 2004. He is the chief executive officer, CEO, Endless Possibilities Media Consulting Services.
