Boniface Chukwuka Egboka, professor and former vice chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, NAU, Awka, Anambra State, 67, November 11. Born in Umuchu, Aguata local government area, Anambra State, he was educated at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, 1971-1974; University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, 1976-1980, where he obtained an MSc in Environmental Earth Sciences and Hydrogeology, and a PhD in Environmental Earth Science, 1980. Egboka started his career as a junior research fellow, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, 1980-1982; senior lecturer, Anambra State University of Technology, now Anambra State University, 1982-1984; commissioner for Works and Transport, Anambra State, 1995-1997 and deputy vice chancellor, Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, 2007.
