Buhari rejoices with Anyaoku at 90, boardroom guru Ohiwerei at 86

President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku as he turns 90 Jan. 18, 2023.
Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s spokesman in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja said the president’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a letter he personally signed and addressed to Anyaoku.
He said: ”It gives me great joy and delight to warmly rejoice with a seasoned diplomat and administrator, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, on his 90th birthday, January 18, 2023.
“I acknowledge the worthy contributions you have made to the development of the country, starting out as a young Foreign Service Officer, and reaching the pinnacle of your career as Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, through vision and diligence, and consistently projecting Nigeria as a great nation.
“Thank you for your statesmanship, and for using your extensive network of international friends to support the country’s efforts in deepening good governance, democracy and sustainable development.
“As you hit the milestone of 90, we give glory to God for the grace of longevity, in good health and sound mind, and rejoice with you, your family and loved ones.
“Happy birthday.”
Similarly, the president also rejoiced with former Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NB plc, Felix Ohiwerei, on his 86th birthday, Jan. 18, congratulating the exceptional and visionary leader for his patriotism.
Buhari joined family members, friends and associates of the boardroom guru in celebrating the grace of God upon Ohiwerei, shown through the years of working with the NB plc, where he started in 1962, and reached the peak of his career before retirement.
He noted the influence of the renowned corporate leader over many organizations and institutions in the country, playing a major role in the production and service sector, and taking up responsibilities in UAC and Unilever, conglomerates that had shaped growth in the economy.
Buhari also noted the commitment of Ohiwerei in promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ, exemplifying love by using his resources and opportunities to improve the lot of many Nigerians, especially in education and health.
The president prayed for Ohiwerei’s good health and strength as he continues to serve the country and humanity. (NAN)
