Chukwuemeka Ike, novelist and professor of Literature, 88, April 28. Born in Ndikelionwu, Anambra State, he studied at Government College, Umuahia; University of Ibadan and Stanford University, US. Ike was registrar, West African Examinations Council, WAEC, 1971-1979. He has won many awards and published many books. Ike also served as director, Daily Times of Nigeria, DTN, PLC; 1971-1987. He was the pro-chancellor/chairman of the governing council, University of Benin, 1990-1991; and pioneer pro-chancellor and chairman of Anambra State University, 2001-2005.
