Co-operative secretary docked for alleged N9m fraud

 A 23-year-old co-operative secretary, Mariam Odukoya, was on Wednesday docked in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly defrauding the so-operative of N9million.

Odukoya, whose address was not provided, is charged with obtaining under false pretences and theft.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in July 31, 2021 at No 194 Itokin Road, Ikorodu Lagos.

Famuyiwa said that the defendant collected the N9m belonging to Aseyori Co-operative Society that she would send it to  the Director of the Co-operative,Mr Salmon Azeez, which she failed to do.

He said the defendant converted the money to her personal use.

Famuyiwa said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 314(3)and 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mr.O.A Ogbe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogbe adjourned the case until Feb.2 for mention. (NAN)
