Commissioner urges youth to access FG Agric loans to boost food production

THE Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Prof Theresa Obiekezie, has urged young people to key into the state government’s agricultural revolution by accessing loan facilities of the Federal Government.

Receiving a delegation from All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN, Anambra State, Youth Wing on a courtesy visit to her office, the commissioner added that youth in agriculture could overcome financial challenges by obtaining ongoing federal government’s loans, being disbursed through the Anambra State Small Business Agency, ASBA.

While describing agriculture as one of economic pillars of the present administration, she said her Ministry had initiated various empowerment intervention programmes in various sectors to liberate youths from want and hunger.

Prof. Obiekezie said the government would partner associations such as AFAN to positively engage youths to be productive in the agricultural sector for food sufficiency and economic sustainability.

Earlier, the State Youth Leader of Association, Chisom Onugha, said they were on a familiarisation visit and to introduce their programmes that they would be delighted to collaborate with right ministries.

He specifically drew the attention of the commissioner to their upcoming Youth Stakeholders Summit /Mini Agric show with a theme: “Re Engineering Youth Engagement in Agricultural Practices and Farming in Anambra State.’’
