Council inducts 16 medical graduates of Edo varsity

THE Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria on Friday inducted 16 graduates of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science of Edo State University, Uzairue.

Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, stated this at the 2nd Oath taking/Induction ceremony of 2021/2022 newly qualified graduate medical students.

Aluyor said the institution had groomed and equipped them to effectively take up challenges in the medical profession.

“Edo University Uzairue prides itself as a modern university that develops leaders; as medical laboratory science graduates from the university, the knowledge you have received will act as a catalyst needed to succeed in life,” he said.

The VC congratulated the graduates and wished them successful career ahead.

“I urge the new inductees to uphold integrity, honesty and quality which is the hallmark of the profession in the discharge of their duties,” he said.

Dr Tosan Erhabor, Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), said the new graduates were now certified medical laboratory scientists and were qualified to work in any health facilities in the country.

“I urge you all to adhere to the rules of professional conduct and practice within the limit of the law guiding the council,” he said.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Acting Head of Department, Medical Laboratory Science, Dr Pius Omosigho, said the inductees were the second set of laboratory scientists produced by the university, having spent five years in the institution.

Omosigho advised the graduands to remain good ambassadors of the profession and the Edo university.

“We are confident that you have all gone through the process and are well groomed in knowledge, character and acts of the practice of medical laboratory science to compete with your peers anywhere in the globe,”  he said.  (NAN)
