COVID-19: Nasarawa Assembly summons Deputy Gov, Auditor General

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Ad hoc committee on COVID-19 has summoned the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the state Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Emmnauel Akabe, to appear before the committee.
The committee also summoned the state Auditor General, Riyanu Lamus, to appear on Dec. 8 while the deputy governor would face the committee on Dec. 10.
The Chairman of the committee, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe issued the summon while addressing newsmen after an emergency meeting at the assembly complex in Lafia on Wednesday.
The chairman said the duo was expected to brief the committee on the COVID-19 activities and its finances in the state.
“You will recall that on Aug. 1, the Speaker of the state assembly, Ibrahim Abdullahi, inaugurated this six-man Ad hoc committee on COVID-19.
“This is to enable the committee to monitor the activities of the State Task Force on COVID-19.
“COVID-19 cases are still on, not only in Nasarawa State, Nigeria but in the whole world.
“It is in view of this that we are summoning the state chairman on COVID-19 to appear before this committee to furnish us with its activities and finances.
“We are also inviting the state Auditor General to appear to brief this committee on the COVID-19 expenditure,” he said.
The chairman of the committee assured the people of the state of the continued commitment to ensuring that the right things were done for the overall development of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that on Aug. 1, the speaker inaugurated the committee to monitor the activities of the Task Force under the chairmanship of the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe.
Usman Labaran-Shafa,(Health Committee Chairman) Vice Chairman; Mohammed Ibrahim Muluku, Daniel Ogazi, Abdulaziz Danladi, and Suleiman Yakubu-Azara were members, while Mr. Safiya Balarabe, a lawyer, served as the Secretary. (NAN)
