Democracy alone not solution to global challenges – Cleric
Politics
THE Brotherhood of Cross and Star (BCS), a religious denomination, said that democracy alone was not the solution to the myriads of challenges facing the world.
Mr Amah Williams, Spokesperson of the denomination, said this on Tuesday in Calabar, at a news conference organised by the BCS in celebration of one of its annual events tagged “Divine Numbering of the Elects”.
Williams said that this was evident as in spite of excellent political and democratic ideologies, political tensions and corruption persisted in all parts of the world.
He said until mankind embraced the principles of love and turn to God, those challenges would continue.
While inviting all inhabitants of the world, including leaders to the event, Williams, warned politicians to be mindful of their actions.
According to him, those fanning the embers of violence and corruption would be visited by God’s wrath.
“Politicians should know that peace emanates from an individual’s place of humility, tolerance, forgiveness, forbearance and the willingness to forgo possessions or pains for the sake of peace.
“Therefore, political leaders must be ready to forgive, tolerate divergent opinions and respect each other because with our coming event, any leader who perpetrates violence and corruption shall face God’s wrath.
“Recent global events such as war, natural disasters, crime, pandemic and others have exposed the limit of man’s knowledge; it is a sign of the last days spoken about by Christ in Matthew chapter 24.”
He added that though all hope was not lost, except leaders of the world embraced God and the divine precepts of brotherhood, where all forms of discrimination ceased to exist, man would continue to wallow in trouble.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the seven-day event, which started on April 3, would be concluded on April 9.
The event, according to the Williams, would feature the restoration of the 12 powers of man.
“Apart from restoring the powers of man which include meekness, holiness, love, faith, peace, truth and others, it would renew man’s spiritual consciousness and divine abilities to submerge evil.” (NAN)
