SINCE the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, blew the whistle for political campaign to begin in January, 14 political parties which fielded candidates for the general election were expected to junket the 36 states and the federal capital territory to canvass for votes. But this is not so. Only two political parties have dominated the political scene.
The parties are the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC. The discussion in the polity now is as if the only choice left for Nigerians to make in the presidential race is between President Goodluck Jonathan of PDP and General Muhammadu Buhari of APC.
But the election does not have to be limited to these two people. There are Nigerians who will not like to vote for either of the two prominent candidates and would put their bet on the lesser known candidates who can fulfil their wishes and aspirations if they are elected.
Realnews editorial board decided to track the other candidates in the presidential race and publicise their manifestoes so as to broaden the discussion and get people to know them. But surprisingly some of them were hard to find while some of them hard good programmes. Please click to our cover story for this week entitled: 12 Presidential Candidates Missing in Action to get all their details which are eye opening. It was written by Olu Ojewale, our general editor.
