FORMER Enugu State Governor, Mr Sullivan Chime, on Friday in Enugu, revalidated his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chime, who was Governor of Enugu State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), told newsmen that the event was a re-endorsement of his membership of the APC which he joined in 2017.

The former governor said that he believed that the APC would reinvent the visionary leadership needed by the state.

“I am here to proudly revalidate my membership of the APC. This is a party I believe will take us to the next level,” he said.

Chime said that the good thing about the exercise was that it afforded all members of the party a level playing field.

He said that the exercise had brought to an end the claim of being founding members of the party by some party chieftains and members.

“I appeal to my people to seize this opportunity to register with the APC. This exercise places us at an equal level and no more claims of being founding members of the APC,” he said.

Chime advised his contemporaries and others still in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC.

“We were members of the PDP but left because the party became what we no longer understood,” he said.

Chime said that the APC had offered fresh hope, development and direction to residents of the state.

“We will certainly see how we can move this state forward from 2023,” Chime said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the APC Membership Revalidation and Registration Exercise, Sen. Jonathan Zwingina, described Chime as a consummate and an accomplished public servant.

Zwingina called on the people of the state to give the former governor the needed support as he strove to build a solid base for the party in the state.

He said that the exercise was for old and new party members.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chime registered in Udi Agbudu Ward with registration number EN/UDD/16/11601.

Chime was governor of the state from 2007 to 2015. (NAN)
