A Security Expert and Life Coach, Mr Paul Ayeni, has advised Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) to increase sensitisation programmes for motorists in Ogun.

Ayeni gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta on Friday.

Ayeni, who is the Chairman, EcoSafe Guards Ltd., urged the agency to rekindle its sensitisation and stakeholders’ engagement to mitigate road accidents.

He commended the Commander and Chief Executive of Trace, Mr Seni Ogunyemi on giant strides in overseeing the roads.

He said drivers with uncontrolled alcoholic intake needed to be disengaged from plying the roads.

Ayeni said, “The reason for the call is to appeal to the conscience of such drivers against drunkenness, reckless driving and hiding of illegal substances in vehicles,

“Others are overloading, conveying passengers with trailers, carrying kegs of petroleum products in commercial buses, amongst other unethical practices.”

He urged the patrol operatives not to hesitate in arresting motorcyclists driving against traffic lights.

According to him, vehicles carrying kegs of petroleum products and other inflammable substances must not be spared.

“On April 6, a National Youth Service Corps member serving at Adegbenro ICT, Itori, lost his life when a drunk driver dosed off while driving.

“The driver lost control of the car and it crashed,

“On April 19, two persons lost their lives in a road crash around Iyana Odogo along Ilaro-Owode road.

“A life was lost as a CNG truck loaded with gas exploded at Ita-Oshin inward Olomore on April 29,” Ayeni said.

He suggested a scheduled visit to bus terminals, engagement of opinion leaders, youths, market men and women, traditional rulers and religious leaders, amongst others.(NAN)
