SOME First-time voters at polling units 047, 049 and 050, Okota ward, Oshodi/Isolo Constituency have expressed excitement over the conduct of voting process, promising to participate in subsequent elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the voters were excited with the peaceful coordination of the voting process, disciplined behaviour of the voters as well as security situation.

Miss Oluchi Confidence, a first-time voter, said she felt happy and satisfied having casted her vote without any interference/disruption.

“I can say it was a successful and credible election. I never knew that election in Nigeria could be this peaceful.

“All I used to hear about election is discouraging; ranging from violent polls, fighting, thugs disturbing voters and insecurity.

“I am 30 years old but this is my first time voting.

“I am impressed with what I witnessed in this election and come other elections, I will come out to cast my vote,” she said.

Miss Favour Nnatu, another voter, said she came to vote because she believed it was her civic responsibility to vote.

Nnatu identified age as the barrier limiting her from casting her vote in the past, as she was not yet 18.

According to her, voting remained the major way through which citizens can partake in choosing their leaders, calling on Nigerians to imbibe the culture of coming out to cast their votes on election day.

She said, “I have been longing to vote but couldn’t do so. Now I am 19 .

“It is exciting that I was allowed to vote because I believe voting is the only means we can participate in choosing our leaders.

Speaking, Chisom Ukachi, said he came out to vote because Nigerians need a good leader.

Ukachi, who is 40 years old, said:” I never voted in my life. This time I came out to vote.

“It is my expectation that the will of God” prevails as the right leaders emerge,” he said. (NAN)
