Gov. Diri vows to depose traditional ruler involved in partisan politics

GOV. Douye Diri of Bayalsa has vowed to depose any traditional ruler in the state who allow politicians to intimidate voters during the forth coming general elections.
He stated this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital, on Monday, during the flag-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for Bayelsa Central Senatorial District.
According to him, government would trace any community that engages in such act.
He urged the people of the state to support all the PDP candidates during the election to pave the way for the party to correct the economic woes perpetrated in the country.
He assured the people that the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has what it takes to reposition the country.
He said: “As for traditional rulers, anyone who allows politicians to deprive other people from exercising their civic right would be dealt with.
“Traditional rulers should desist from partisan politics and youth should not allow themselves to be used as instrument of violence.
“Our party will continue to bring development, infrastructures, human capital development in our dear state.
“I, therfore, urge you to give your mandate to PDP for more dividends of democracy,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr. Solomon Agwanana, the PDP state chairman in Bayelsa, said the strength of PDP is in the hand of every Bayelsans who support the achievements of Gov. Diri.
He urged the party supporters not to give opposition parties the chance to win election in the state. (NAN)
