HURIWA to Tinubu: Make sure your Abuja land gifts to Super Eagles are not audio or yahooyahoo like past governments

… condemns cyber bullying of Alex Iwobi
THE Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for hosting the triumphant super Eagles that won silver at the just ended AFCON in Ivory Coast.
The decision by the president and the government of the Federation to reward the players for the superlative performance at the competition of all the best African –Male Football National teams, is a wise one and worthy of commendation by all Nigerians.
“The conferment of national honours and the donation of flats of housing assets and plots of Juicy Abuja lands is a great way of rewarding excellence, if those are not audio or deceptive gifts.
“We hope the minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has already issued them with the actual C of O’ as the President was making the presidential pronouncement,” HURIWA said in a statement made available to Realnews.
HURIWA hopes that these are not the ‘yahoo yahoo’ kind of gifts that the previous Administrations made to national players that did not come through until some of them passed on without receiving them.
According to the group, “If the C of O are not given to the players today by the President and the minister of FCT did not drive the players in a special convoy to actually allocate the physical land today, we in the HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) will see these as another ‘yahoo yahoo’ promises. But if these were all done, then we the Nigerians need to appropriately commend the government.
“Lastly and importantly, this government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not shown good faith and commitment to the promotion and funding of the sports sector. The only excellent decision in the area of sport, is the appointment of a bright and broad -minded Nigerian politician as the minister of sports Senator John Owan Enoh and we ask why Mr President and his government allocated just a mare N31.24 billion Naira for a entire sports whereas, the National Assembly that comprise of less than 500 member and far less than two thousand members of staff are smiling with a whopping sum of N344.85 billion Naira.
“How were Nigerians expecting super Eagles to have won the cup if not that the players are Europeans trained?
“HURIWA condemns any attempt by any Nigerians to cyberbully Alex Iwobi and we urge the DSS, and police to arrest and prosecute anyone found guilty because cyber bullying is a crime and should be treated as it should.”

National Coordinator,
