Ezemonye said that the product, awaiting the approval of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs’ Administration and Control (NAFDAC), would soon be made available to the public.
He said that the Dora Akunyili College of Pharmacy of the 21-year-old university had developed into a world-class academy, both in theory and practice.
According to him, the college research and development team is currently working on a COVID-19 intervention in antiviral and immunostimulatory evolutions of polyherbal formulations DACP-1.
Also speaking, the Dean of College of Pharmacy, Prof. Ighodaro Igbe, explained that production of the methylated spirit and hydrogen peroxide would help to meet the immediate aseptic needs of the university’s teaching hospital and other health institutions in the state.
Igbe disclosed that the school, currently running a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, would soon upgrade to the more clinically-oriented Doctor of Pharmacy degree, with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session.
