THE Institute of Directors, Nigeria (IoD) on Monday in Abeokuta paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yoruba Land.

The President of the institute, Alh. Tijjani Borodo, led a delegation to the home of the deceased, who was their member until her death on Oct. 28 in Abeokuta.

In his remarks, Borodo eulogised the late Iyalode, describing her as a remarkable and exceptional individual who exemplified a true spirit of collaboration.

He went on to say that the late Iyalode was an eminent fellow of the institute who was a great influence on other members.

“Throughout her time with us, Iyalode Lawson exemplified the true spirit of collaboration, always ready to lend a helping hand and share her wealth of knowledge and experience with others.

“She possessed a rare combination of candour, expertise and humility, making her approachable and respected by all,” Borodo said.

He admonished the Lawson children to continue in the good path their mother had laid, praying that the almighty God would grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Mr Akinola Lawson, one of the deceased’s sons, thanked the delegation on behalf of the family and prayed that God would continue to preserve them all.

The IoD President also led his delegation to visit the institute’s state secretariat at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta where he advised staff and members to work together for the branch’s growth.

He promised to give necessary support to the IoD in the zone with a view to achieving its objectives.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late Iyalode Lawson was the pioneer chairman of the institute’s Abeokuta branch, and her remains would be buried on Dec. 8.(NAN)
