Joshua Dariye, senator, former governor of Plateau State, accountant and administrator, 59, July 27. Born in Horop, Bokkos local government area of Plateau State, he was educated at St Clements University, Australia. Dariye was appointed chief inspector, Internal Audit and Control Department, Lion Bank PLC, 1989; chief financial accountant, Benue Cement Company PLC, 1990; general manager, personnel and finance, Benue Cement Company PLC, and chief accountant, Plateau Publishing Company Limited, 1998. Dariye was elected governor of Plateau State between 1999 and 2007. He was a Senator in 2011 to represent Plateau Central on the platform of the Labour party, LP. But in 2015 he decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where he was elected to represent his senatorial district.
