Kaduna Peace Commission urges citizens to remain law-abiding as nation awaits results

KADUNA State Peace Commission has urged citizens of the state, particularly the youth, party supporters, leaders of political parties and candidates to abide by the provisions of the law at all times.

The Commission also appreciated the political class for adhering to their commitment to peaceful elections signed on Dec. 15, 2022.

This is contained in a statement by the Saleh Momale,The Executive Vice Chairman of the commission.

According  to him, as the nation awaits the outcome of the elections at various levels, all must eschew all forms of provocation, incitement or non-peaceful reactions arising from the outcome of the elections.

He said as preparations began  for the Governorship and State Assembly elections, the commission appealed for similar level of cooperation and understanding.

“In due course, there will be engagements with all stakeholders in the state in ensuring that the elections take place in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

He appreciated the people of the state for peaceful conduct during the presidential and National Assembly elections on Feb. 25.

 According  to the statement, citizens have conducted themselves in an orderly manner, respecting the laid down procedures for the conduct of the elections across the state.

The Commission acknowledged the positive contributions of diverse stakeholders in contributing towards the peaceful conduct of the elections.

It further noted that govt institutions, security agencies, traditional, religious leaders, civil society organisations and the media worked in synergy in ensuring the peaceful, orderly conduct of the elections. (NAN)
