Kano Assembly calls for completion of abandoned Dambatta Stadium

THE Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday urged the state government to complete the abandoned stadium in the Dambatta Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The assembly made the call following a motion presented by Musa Kore (APC-Dambatta) at plenary presided over by Speaker Hamisu Ibrahim-Chidari.
Kore said completing the stadium project whose construction was initiated in 2000 would help to boost the state’s internally-generated revenue profile.
“There is the need for the completion of the project, which was later abandoned at 60 percent completion because it will bring additional revenue to the state government.
“It will not only boost the revenue of the council and LGA but the state in general. Hence, there is the need for government to continue with the construction and complete the stadium.
“It will also keep our teeming youths fit, because we have many youths in the area who are football fans, and they need regular training.
“In most cases, whenever our youths need training or have a match to play, they have had to be going to the neighboring states to play,” Kore said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the assembly had set up an ad hoc committee to investigate why the project was abandoned for a very long time.
Similarly, the lawmakers advised the state government to construct a road to link the two communities in Kabo LGA of the state.
Ayuba Labaran-Durum, representing Kabo Constituency, asked the state government to develop the area.
“The residents of the affected areas are contributing so much towards the development of the area and the state in general. But due to the lack of good roads in the area, many people in the affected communities have been jobless.
“Most of them are farmers, and cannot take their goods to the various markets.”(NAN)
