THE kingmakers of Igodan Lisa community, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State have appealed to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to intervene in the obaship tussle ravaging the community.

Chief Ayodeji Ogunga, Secretary of the Igodan Lisa kingmakers (Ijama’s) made this appeal while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Okitipupa.

Ogunga alleged that there had been an unfortunate incidence over the installation process of the Olu of Igodan Lisa, which has led to series of tussles among some people acting  against the law, custom and tradition.

The high chief warned that if such excesses were  not checked, it could lead to a breakdown of law and order in the community

Ogunga alleged that a certain aspirant and chief  connived with some people to claim that he had  been appointed as the Olu of Igodan Lisa, in breach of  the law, custom and tradition of the community.

He said that the aspirant had  been using his position, paraphernalia of office with some hoodlums to terrorise the community.

Ogunga explained that the procedure to install a new king began immediately after the death of the community’s ruler, the late Oba Akinsola.

He said that six people indicated interest in the stool, with three of them being  Ijamas (Kingmakers)

“But without due process, someone  claimed that he has been appointed as the new Olu of Igodan Lisa.

“We are law abiding citizens of the community and we can not just watch things go against the law, customs and tradition of our land.

“We believe the law, customs and tradition of the land, the law guiding chieftancy titles, as well as that of the state government in proffering a quick process to the matter.

“We, therefore call on Akeredolu to intervene in the process of installing a new king to stop some overzealous elements from doing what may cause a breakdown of law and order in the community,” Ogunga said.(NAN)
