Kofoworola Akerele-Bucknor, lawyer, politician and former deputy governor of Lagos State, 80, April 30. Born in Lagos State, she studied at the CMS Girls’ School, Lagos; Gray’s Inn, Holborn, London. She started her career as presenter/interviewer, African Service, 1962-1963; editor, Helliograture Lansen, Switzerland. Akerele-Bucknor later became announcer, Voice of Nigeria, VON, English Service; promoted senior producer, Talks, VON; client service manager, Graham and Gillies Advertising Limited. She was elected into the Senate in 1991, and later became deputy governor to Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos State in 1999.
