Kwara Govt appoints new provost for College of Nursing, Oke-ode

THE Kwara Government has Alhaji Lanre Abdulquadri as the substantive provost, College of Nursing, Oke-Ode.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Abolore Alabi, announced this on Tuesday in Ilorin while handing over the appointment letter to the institution’s Chairperson, Governing Council, Hajia Mariam Ibrahim.

Alabi said the appointment was a welcome development as it was on merit and did not involve any form of lobbying.

He however charged the new provost to put to bare his wealth of knowledge and vast experience to reform the institution.

He directed the board of the institution to ensure that proper handing over of all things be done to the new provost within the next 48 hours.

The Chairperson (Hajia Ibrahim) commended the state government for appointing the right person to the position.

According to her, the appointment is a round peg in a round hole.

She however charged the new provost to make the citadel of learning an institution to reckon with among worthy institutions.

The Director, Quality Assurance at the ministry, Mr Joseph Afolayan, said the position was a litmus test for the provost and charged him to deliver well.

Afolayan advised the provost to run a transparent and an all inclusive  administration in the school.

In his acceptance speech, Abdulquadri said his vision for the institution was to reform the college to be a model.

He added that he would work on improving the quality of education and security of the school.

The new provost added the institution’s library would be revamped and e-learning would be introduced in the school system.

Meanwhile, the state government has approved N100 million for the renovation of the institution, pledging another N80 million for accreditation of courses. (NAN)
